THE COFFEE POT IS
EMPTY
It was
a disappointing day. I had to be up at 4:30 to be at work at 5, in a place which
I had not left until near 11 the night before. I awoke to my alarm clock blaring
some kind of music in my ear that some idiot (that being me) had chosen because
he knew it would wake him up. I rolled out of bed and strolled into the
kitchen, eyes half closed, mind still numb from its lack of activity, body
screaming to get back in bed, and reached for the heavenly fluid that would
give life to my dilapidated situation. As I lifted the glorious pot from its
noble place of preparation, anticipating the taste and flavorful glory of my
daily kick-start, my heart sank; for there in my hand sat an empty coffee pot.
No life giving fluid, no mind speeding caffeine, no heavenly aroma to awaken my
senses to the world around me. This had to be the end of the world. Nothing
less could be so pitifully devastating for this person. That was only the
beginning of a truly miserable day. That night I fixed the problem. I made sure
my coffee pot was set. I made sure there would be no error in the following
morning’s ritual. I had fixed the empty coffee pot.
While
the above story may be a bit humorous to all, allow me to indulge your senses
in a simple, yet profound comparison. On January the 20th, in the
year 2009, I awoke with the same feeling of despair and anticipation, only
except for my day, it was for my country. For America as a whole was awaking to
an empty coffee pot.
Many had not yet realized what had been done, but we as a
nation had forgotten to set the coffee pot. Oh we had put the candidates in the
pot, we just forgot to grind ‘em up and be sure they would produce the coffee.
We carelessly threw the coffee in the hopper, and didn’t set the thing to brew,
and now we have suffered the 4 year result of that negligence. Both in the part
of American citizens who did not inform themselves of the proposed
“improvements”, and of the officials they elected who never filled the coffee
pot. As a matter of fact, they emptied the pot, and emptied the cupboard, so
that we couldn’t make a pot of coffee even if we wanted. They took the beans,
the very source of our coffee, and strapped in something they call a health
care law, to effectively cripple our ability to do as we choose. To make the coffee
ourselves if need be.
Now let
me ask you a question America, are we going to leave the coffee pot empty? Are
we going to reset it for our future prosperity, or once again elect a man who
is incapable of putting the coffee in the pot, the beans in the cupboard, and
the good of the people as the priority of his existence? Or are we going to
allow the same brain-less, power hungry, self-centered individuals in power, to
continue their destruction of our country as our founders intended it; as God
intended it? I pray not. And I hope to see all-God fearing citizens of our
great nation at the polls this election day, to eject the self-centered officials
who would seek only for their own betterment and strength of power. Take the
first step in returning our country to what it used to be.
